About the Fond du Lac Area Safety Council The Fond du Lac Area Safety Council, a division of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, promotes safety in industries, homes, traffic and public places by providing:

General membership meetings are held in September, November, January, February, March and April on the 2nd Monday evening of the month. All meetings are held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fond du Lac. A family-style dinner is served promptly at 6:00 pm and the program begins immediately following the meal. PROGRAMS "Culture - Do You Understand Yours?" - September 15, 2008 Superior safety results are not achieved through compliance alone. Many companies are in compliance but still have below average incident rates and above average workers’ compensation claims. For a company to be better than average or “World Class” their safety programs must include an understanding of culture. Attendees will learn concepts needed for a successful safety program and how employees must interact in order to achieve “World Class” results."Incentive" Plans - November 10, 2008 Presenter: Mike Kingsland, Gravure Press Manager Quad/Graphics, Inc .Safety Incentive Programs don’t fix what’s broken - they give you and your company a different option on how to make things better! QuadGraphics will review their safety incentive program, giving participants some take away ideas to use at their own place of employment. The Effects of Shift Work in the Workplace - January 12, 2009 Presenter: Andi Brem, RPSGT, Sleep Lab Coordinator Aurora Sleep Disorders CenterPlease join us to learn more about the overall health effects of shift work and the impact on workplace safety and productivity. This program will include the Circadian Rhythm (indwelling body clock) and Shift Work Sleep Disorder. Andi will also share information about Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Trenching - Contractor - February 9, 2009 Trenching and excavating is one of the most dangerous activities within the construction field, and a part of OSHA’s National Emphasis Program. It is a part of nearly every construction project and all company safety members should have a general awareness of the hazards involved and the ways in mitigating these hazards. This is not a Trenching Competent Person Course. Severe Weather - April 13, 2009 (Safety Poster Contest Night) As we learned in 2008, severe weather is not to be under estimated! Join the Safety Council as we welcome a representative from the National Weather Service to our program. Even if you think you know a lot about the topic, you will learn something new! This session will beinformative! Watch for specific details about this program as we get closer to the date. Poster Contest - Winners will be announced. SAFETY DAY March 25, 2009 UW Fond du Lac Join the Safety Council for their 6th Annual Safety Day! Scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2009, this local Safety Program is THE BEST one day program in the State! With a record attendance in 2008, the Fond du Lac Area Safety Council trained more than 200 safety professionals on timely safety issues and topics.
