Downtown FDL Board of Directors

The DFP Board of Directors is a City of Fond du Lac appointed commission. Board members nominees will are submitted to the Fond du Lac City Council for approval of appointment. The eleven members of the Board of Directors are a balance of small and large property owners. One voting member may be a representative from a non-assessed property from within the BID district. There are three non-voting ex-officio members representing the City of Fond du Lac, the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, and Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation.

The government and policy-making responsibilities of the DFP are vested in the Board of Directors, which shall control its property, be responsible for its finances, and direct its affairs. The Board of Directors shall annually approve an Operating Plan for the DFP, which will then be presented to City Council for approval.

Responsibilities of board members:

  • Advocate for the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership
  • Establish and monitor all policies that determine the DFP’s purpose, governing principles and actions.
  • Ensure financial stability; raise/secure necessary operating funds; approve/monitor DFP finances.
  • Review and evaluate the DFP’s operations, goals, priorities and progress on regular basis
  • Develop and oversee annual work plan with the Director.
  • Establish committees to ensure optimal achievement of goals; support committee efforts by volunteering time and expertise.
  •  Ensure DFP fulfills requirements to maintain status as a Wisconsin Main Street Community/Program.
  • Maximize volunteer effort to achieve DFP goals
  • Inspire public confidence in the DFP
  • Strive to meet criteria for accreditation as a nationally recognized Main Street Community
  • Ensure the guidelines set forth by the BID Rules & Regulations are followed.
