Social Media: A world of opportunity, but be careful to avoid the legal landmines!

The allure of social media/networking is attracting more and more users, both in and out of the workplace. However, the popularity of social media/networking comes with potential legal issues. This presentation will examine how employers and their employees are using social sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for professional development, to promote business efforts and opportunities and to solicit advice and counsel by posing questions to the social community. This presentation will also discuss the legal risks employers and their employees face as they explore and exploit such sites.

About the speaker: Tony Renning is a shareholder in the Oshkosh office of Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. who concentrates his practice in labor and employment as well as school law litigation and counseling. He provides advice and counsel to employers about their rights and obligations under federal and state laws and regulations.
